Organismos como del Instituto Mexicano para la Competitividad (IMCO) y el Banco Mundial subrayan que el rezago educativo y formativo de capital humano traerá impactos en el desarrollo económico y social de México.PUBLICIDAD
Cifras de la Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) reconocen al menos 270 mil deserciones de estudiantes de nivel básico, pero organismos privados como el IMCO estimaban el año pasado que más de 628 mil alumnos habían abandonado sus estudios por factores relacionados con la pandemia; en tanto, el Banco Mundial consideró que se trata de 2.5 millones de casos.

Expertos en materias educativa y económica, como José Antonio Esquivias, presidente de la Comisión Nacional de Educación de la Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana (Coparmex); Eduardo Backhoff, extitular del extinto Instituto Nacional para la Evaluación Educativa (INEE), y Benjamín González Roaro, exsubsecretario de Educación y actual presidente de la Academia Mexicana de Educación, sostienen que el abandono de las escuelas por motivos relacionados con la pandemia repercutirá en serios problemas para la competitividad nacional en el futuro.
Un análisis del IMCO, publicado al cierre del primer semestre de 2021, señala que un país con una población que tiene menos habilidades formativas debido al rezago educativo provocado por la pandemia enfrenta dos tipos de costos económicos: a niveles personal y nacional.
Detalla que, en el plano individual, los trabajadores tendrán menor acceso a empleos mejor pagados. De acuerdo con el Banco Mundial, esto hará que el estudiante promedio pierda 8% de su ingreso anual futuro, lo que equivale a un mes de salario al año por el resto de su vida productiva.
“A nivel país, la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos (OCDE) estima que en los próximos 80 años este fenómeno le podría costar a México un monto acumulado de hasta 136% del PIB de 2019.
